Even though running isn’t that fun to do- or to watch- we were excited to see Cael improve and get better during the races for the high school team. He met some good friends and they worked hard during their season. Team pasta dinners every Friday night and hanging out in school parking lots/stadiums/or parks most of the day on Saturday. Go XC!

Trip to Kauai
This is actually a funny story-
Ben and I were actually trying to catch any space A flight to Japan, but it is hard to plan very far in advance when you only have a 36 hour notice of the flight schedules. So we waited and watched and saw plenty of flights to Japan the week before Ben had scheduled leave, but there was so many changes to the flight schedule when we actually could get on a flight. There was even a notice of a flight to Australia so we began to plan for a trip to Australia two days before which was later canceled—the flight was completely changed. So after two days of no success of space A and waiting to get on the flight, we made a last-minute decision to hop to another island for a few days. We had gotten home at 10 o’clock after not making the evening flight, bought tickets and we were on the 6 o’clock in the morning flight to Kauai!
We had a fun time exploring the island and having a kid-free trip— which is always a good time!
We went straight from the airport to a fun little breakfast spot- it was so yummy and filled us up our hike on the Canyon trail. What a trail and the scenery was amazing!
We explored around the area a little more and then made the drive out to the Barking sands marine Corp post where we would stay for 2 nights.
We rented kayaks and paddled our way up to queens bath and secret falls. We went a little farther up the river to a swimming hole- even though it wasn’t very hot for that type of activity;)

First Day of School 2018
August 1, 2018
After our whirlwind trip back to the mainland, we were nervous about being gone two weeks before school started and getting home the day before everyone was supposed to go. I had gotten everyone’s supplies ready and backpacks all set to go before our trip, so that was one less thing to worry about. We were all still on Utah time so waking up early wasn’t much of a problem especially with their excitement for the new school year to begin.
With Cael starting high school, we knew we were in for some big changes for our family. Early morning seminary and after school activities would begin to occupy most of our teenagers time, but we are also glad that he is involved and meets new friends with each activity

JULY- BYU, trampoline, parks, and waffles
We still had some time to play in utah and tried to make the most of it. It was very hot-
So I tried to find things to do that didn’t cost an arm and a leg—not so expensive. It was also nice to spend time with Great Gma Ivory, but my circus in her tiny apartment starts to get nerve racking- I’m always worried about what precious crystal/vase/figurine my kids are going to break. It is better to meet at a park and watch the kiddos run around and do their own crazy there.
We lucked out that day with a free lunch program They had at the park- sandwiches, chips, milk and fruit for everyone!
