Broken Brecon

Our Saturday night enjoyment suddenly took a turn for the emergency kind when Ben and Brecon had been playing of the trampoline together. There was an awkward fall-
I hear Ben yell "Brecon broke his arm; we're going to the hospital!"
I rushed upstairs to see them in the kitchen holding Brecon's left arm carefully. I'm confused but try to comprehend what has happened and how. The description was vague; they rushed out the door to go to the emergency room. Connor and Brielle wanted to go and were screaming and crying to get out the door.
After x-rays were taken and the orthopedist doctor placed a cast up the full arm before the shoulder, they were able to come home. My poor little tough guy! He ate warmed up macraroni and cheese and drank root beer through a straw. We let him play his game on the "thinga-bobber" until we were ready for bed. It seemed like every 15 minutes he'd yell "MOM! I need to go to the bathroom!" I'd race upstairs to help with pants and washing one hand, and he'd settle right back onto the couch, prop his arm on a pillow, and begin playing again.
Seriously? A broken arm? This is the last thing that our family needs right now. So much to do and we are running out of time.

Camping Weekend

The Folau's called Friday morning and mentioned that they would like to go camping that night. The kids didn't have school that day and so it was a perfect time to gather all the gear, throw it into the truck, and have an adventure. The campsite is only 10 minutes away, but it was a perfect night for the kids to run around, light sticks on fire, and eat plenty of delicious camp food.

In setting up our tents and beds for the night, we pumped up the air mattress for the adults and the kids. By morning we were all just sleeping on the ground. One of these days we have got to find the leak in that essential piece of our camping gear!

It really was perfect weather, slightly chilly at night so the fire felt lovely- bright, warm sunshine in the morning that was just right for a hike through the forest. We did find ticks on Brielle's arm and my belly on Sunday. They are so tiny it was hard to see them!

Pictures from Mrs. Stalter

Connor has been having such a great time in his Pre-K class. He still tells me his favorite part of the day is singing time, but I think they are doing some really fun art and texture activities too!

Baby Shower for Dattage Family

TWINS!! Two sweet little boys were about to be born and I knew that I wanted to have a night to celebrate with our good friends.
I copied a great idea to have a "little man party"- mustaches and fun "Minute 2 WIN it" games to bring out a little competition in everyone. Husbands were invited too, which made the night a little more entertaining as well.

**Sparkle said "Sometimes I'm not so thrilled to go to baby showers, but THIS was the BEST party I've been to!"

Bearing Testimonies

At church today when the meeting was opened up to members of the congregation to share their simple testimonies Cael began to shuffle around in his seat. He told me he was going to do it today, and then he asked each of his brothers if they would go with him. Connor accepted after watching one of his friends stand bravely in front of the microphone and speak his simple testimony of truth. They got up and sat in the front row as they had to wait while Brother Matt Ellett was giving a more lengthy testimony. Those boys had to wait and wait and were very reverent, along with another friend who would be going first. When their turn arrived they shared both short, sweet, and precious testimonies to hear.

Cael went first and said "I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true. (At this time I could see Cael's face begin to flush red, he may have forgotten what he wanted to say and paused for a moment. Then he began...) I know that we can all go to heaven. In the name... AMEN."

Connor then walked up to the microphone and all by himself said "I know this church is true. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I know the scriptures are true. And I know that Jesus is true. AMEN."
He then turned to maybe say "in the name..." but he changed his mind and walked quickly back to our seat. They both had the biggest smile on their faces. I asked if Connor had a warm feeling inside of his heart and that was the Holy Ghost telling him what he did was right and true.

It was special for me as a mother to see young boys of mine begin to express their belief in front of other people. I know that as we share our testimonies that our faith and belief in the things we know to be true is strengthened and continues to grow stronger.
