Hauula Loop Trail- Hiking with Keiki (my keiki)

There is a local group that puts together hiking excursions for different age groups. All you have to do with sign up, show up, and they take you on an adventure that is suited for the group that is going. I finally decided I needed to fully participate (instead of just seeing all the fun after the fact) and so we ventured out! The hike was supposed to be for Brielle's age group, so bringing my older kids made the hike more fun, but also had some challenges. There are certain rules of hiking and there is a designated leader- no one should pass the lead and hike in front of her/him. Well, Brecon was not very happy about that rule-- he likes to be our lead when our family goes on hikes-- so there were a couple of times that we had to call him back and remind him about the rules.

Overall, the trail was gorgeous and the scenery was beautiful. Half-way along the trail we stopped for a snack and refreshments. We also saw a lilikoi blossom and some other really neat plants. The interesting thing about the lilikoi blossom is that it only flowers for a short time and if it isn't pollinated, the flower falls off and there won't be any fruit. I hope that little blossom met a bee...

All in all, great experience! It was nice to have a "guide"... get my children out on a new trail... and meet some more hiking enthusiasts! I hope to go hiking with Keiki (kay-kee) again!
