Pinewood Derby
With recent announcements and church changes, this year would be “the last” pinewood derby with the Cub scouts for our family. I know how much effort cub scouts can take and I am always thankful for the good leaders and families that spend the time to make events like these really fun for everyone... and I’m always glad to help clean up afterward!
This year was all about Connor, even though last year he made a car that was faster than everyone else— Brecon took 2nd that year. So Connor and Ben (and grandpa Hoopes too) cut, sanded, and put on some paint that I thought was really quite nice. We were excited to see how this car would do— after all was said and done- we were happy with the 3rd place finish overall!
That night Cannon was also wearing a Cub Scout shirt and hat and said “I’m a scout kid”— we thought he was the cutest scout kid there!

Connors trip to Maui
Ben had a medical conference (finally!) and invited me to join in on the fun- the hotel room was already paid for so it would cost too much more - right? The only problem would be that he would be in class all day and it would probably be boring for me. So after talking about you should come along on the trip it was decided that we would bring our middle son- Connor. He was thrilled and asked everyday leading up to the trip “when are we goin to Maui?” He is easy going, happy to go with the flow, and all around a fun kid— this trip was a fun time to be together, swim at the pool, and eat plenty of treats, especially krispy kreme donuts (a family treat since Oahu doesn’t have a donut shop)

Hoopes Hikes
Some of the best things that we have been able to do with my parents- besides having them here to help with the house and the kids- is hiking! They are good sports, and even like the adventures of checking out a new trail- even if it is a hard one! After we have been on the trail for a while, they will tell me "this is the hardest hike we've been on" or "I would rank this as a 9 out of 10 for difficulty" or "are you kidding me?" It's been fun and it has also been a good motivator to get me out of the house - our Monday adventures and eating breakfasts at different restaurants has been fun too! I can’t believe that they are leaving us to go back to Wyoming— we sure have had fun having grandma and grandpa around!
